NYFW 2016 Hair Trends: No Fuss Styling

This article was written originally published on VIVE.co – Check them out and never have a bad hair day again.

NYFW is sort of the Super Bowl of events when it comes to the fashion world. I look forward to going every year because I not only get to see what is to come for the next season, I am also able to connect with fellow bloggers and colleagues. As a blogger, my normal day-to-day usually involves sitting in front of a computer screen in my pjs editing photos, writing copy and constantly updating our social media channels. So when I am able to leave my desk, put on real clothes, head to fashion week to talk to real humans who can relate to what I do, it gets me pretty giddy. Not saying my husband doesn’t love hearing about what Alexander Wang is doing for SS16, never mind, that is exactly what I am saying.

While many parts of Fashion Week can feel caddy and over-produced, it still is a great feeling being around people who truly appreciate the works of art that these designers create. Their pieces may not be hanging on a wall in a fancy art gallery but instead they are draped meticulously on models with the utmost precision and care. The runway is where the designers display their work and each look wouldn’t be complete without creating a hair and makeup look that really drives the artists vision for their collection home.

You really see it all during Fashion Week. Looks you are dying to have, hair that confuses the hell out of you and makeup looks that look more like they came straight out of a crime scene rather than a fashion show. While much of this is to be expected, there were certain trends that stood out this year more than most. Clothing, hair and makeup seemed to have a no fuss attitude about it this year. Models had this, “I just got out of bed but look drop dead sexy,” look about them. A look that I am sure we will all try really, really hard to replicate at home come spring. When it comes to hair, we saw tons of simple braids, smooth/sleek hair, easy ponytails and windblown looks which were accompanied by makeup looks that were so natural looking you would hardly know the models were wearing makeup at all. All-in-all I was excited about what I saw and for what is to come for 2016, especially in the hair department, all wearable looks that won’t take hours to re-create. A win-win for all of us!
