NYFW: Beyond The Shows

IMG_9463As we wrap up our Fashion Week posts, we look back on some of our favorite moments of the week. We saw what’s to come for spring, attended fun parties, spotted celebrities, caught up with old friends and made some new ones.  Being the last NYFW post of the series, we thought we would share what took place beyond the shows at Lincoln Center.

As new members of Reward Style, we were beyond thrilled to be invited to their exclusive blogger party held on the rooftop at The Empire Hotel.  For those who don’t know, Reward Style is a web-tool that helps top-tier style bloggers monetize content, long story short–they help us get paid!! They threw one hell of a party where they served up crafty cocktails, we mingled with good company and something all bloggers love- they gave out SWAG! To answer the question you are all thinking, no the swag bags did not include the Louboutins and Prada bag pictured above (wishful thinking) but they were uber generous! Check back soon for more info on Reward Style where we will explain how it works and how you can shop from our website and Instagram

We discovered one of our new favorite NYC brunch spots in the Greenwich Village called The Meatball Shop.  They serve up some of the best meatballs (come in a close second to my grandma’s recipe) you have tasted and prepare them pretty much every way imaginable; with sauce or with an egg on top–really the options are endless. The meatballs really hit the spot after a few days of living off of the CLIF bars that we stored in our purses “just in case”.  Another reason this place is a new favorite of ours is for their variety of jello shots they offer on the menu.  Leaving with out trying a few out would be, well, just wrong.

Trina Turk

Later that night we attended the Bag Barrow and Steal and Trina Turk event at Trina Turk’s store in the Meat Packing district.  We sipped on champagne, nibbled on light bites and were pretty stoked when we were able to meet the designer herself! Here we are pictured with Trina Turk, such a lovely and inspiring woman!IMG_4966

IMG_9504We enjoyed some delicious oysters and wine at Ed’s Chowder House, located inside The Empire Hotel, that was conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Center.  Made for the perfect spot for meetings in between shows.

We were so blessed to have our friends from VIVE help us get ready one morning where they worked their magic to help us look alive and peppy at 7am! Alanna and Cristin are the founders behind VIVE and they brilliantly came up with the idea to offer a network of talented hair stylists and make-up artists, that you are able to book from your phone or computer and they come and bring their services to you! These ladies are pro’s and will leave you looking fabulous!  If you live in NYC, you have to check VIVE out!

While in the big apple, we dropped by one of our favorite showrooms where we picked out a few items that we wore during the week. The leather overalls shown in this post were just one of the amazing finds that we came across!

Whenever we are in NY we always find time to walk around the Meatpacking District. Michelle used to live and work here so we have had many fond memories in the village. On Sunday we had to stop by the Biergarten at the Standard where we enjoyed a pretzel and our favorite Hefeweizen before our shows began. There was a blow up rainbow tunnel outside of the Standard which called for a photo op and a very tourist “I love NY” car that had to be captured as well.IMG_5722IMG_5743

IMG_9488MarrinCOne of our favorite things about Fashion Week was how it brought us together with many of our friends from all over the country.  We were able to catch up with old college friends that live in the city, some in town for the shows and new friends we have met through blogging.  We were so happy to meet up with our talented friend Marrin Costello, at her pop up shop brunch for her jewelry line.  We caught up and checked out her new Stoned Collection that will be launching soon and it oh so amazing, so be sure to check it out soon!

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in the middle of Times Square. Not the most convenient place to stay when having to travel in and out as much as we did but the spacious rooms were totally worth it.  As you can imagine we didn’t pack lightly for our NYFW trip, so having room to sleep plus a place to put our shoes was a huge plus.

In Times Square you really see it all and sometimes you may even run into a familiar face!  We had to stop for a quick pic with our favorite childhood characters to show our little niece and nephew who we met (they were totally impressed btw)!

Our last night in NYC, we decided that our trip would not be complete with out getting our caricature done.  We naturally picked the caricature artist that had previously done Matthew McConaughey,  if Mathew trusts you Mr. artist man, so do we.

IMG_6026IMG_9518We had so much fun and feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to experience our very first New York Fashion Week and look forward to many more to come!

xoxo

Very nice post and right to the point. I am not sure if this is truly the best place to ask but do you guys have any thoughts on where to get some professional writers? Thanks in advance 🙂
