If you’ve noticed a lot more South Dakota content lately, you’re not imagining things. For the past few years, we’ve been building a home on my husband’s family’s cattle ranch in western South Dakota. It’s a project that’s been years in the making, and this summer we’re finally getting to experience what we dreamed about from the beginning. This isn’t just a vacation home. It’s a place rooted in family history. Casey’s family has ranched this land for generations, and while I didn’t grow up on a ranch, I quickly fell in love with the lifestyle and the traditions that come with it. We wanted our boys to have a place where they could grow up chasing sunsets instead of screens, feeding animals before breakfast, riding in the pickup with their grandparents, and learning where their food comes from. A place where family traditions are still alive and hard work is part of everyday life. Building a home out here has been an adventure all its own. From designing a space that feels true to the ranch while still reflecting our style, to watching every stage of construction come together, it’s been a labor of love. Now, getting to wake […]

If you’ve been here for a while, you know my story. You know I’ve spent years building Fifty-Two Thursdays, creating content, showing up online and offline, and growing real community through storytelling, style, travel, and life in all its seasons. That part of my life and work is not going anywhere. But I’m so excited to share a new chapter I’ve been stepping into alongside it. I’m joining Foretell as a Senior Advisor, helping build and grow their influencer and creator work, while still very much continuing my work here on Fifty-Two Thursdays. Recently, I also made the decision to sell The Scout Guide Alexandria, a business I poured my heart into for years. Closing that chapter created the space to step fully into what’s next and this new role is something I’m deeply passionate about and incredibly excited to build. Foretell is a boutique communications and public affairs firm that truly understands influence. Not as a trend or a buzzword, but as something built through real relationships, real communities, and showing up where people actually pay attention. That belief is what immediately drew me in. For more than a decade, I’ve lived on the creator side. I’ve built brands, grown audiences, launched projects, […]

I recently had the opportunity to try out RF micro needling at OVME spa at the Mosaic District (they also have a location in Bethesda and DC) and I’ve been blown away by the results. I’ve been dying to try this procedure for years after hearing multiple friends that have amazing results and seeing many life changing before/afters on social media. I’m almost 39, so aging is top of mind for me as I approach 40. But I’m all about aging in a graceful way, so I also want to help my skin look youthful and plump without looking like a different person. I think this procedure really hits the nail on the head and is something I would recommend to anyone who is looking to reduce the signs of aging, wanting to get rid of acne scarring, enlarged pores etc. What is RF Microneedling? RF microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that uses RF energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, while microneedles create tiny punctures on the surface of the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing process and collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity. The procedure involves the use of a […]

I can’t believe I’m writing an article about tips entertaining a one year old when I feel like Waylon just arrived last week! Time has flown by to say the least but boy has it been wild and fun and hard. Looking back, I’m not sure why I thought the infant stage was so hard? They sleep so much and you don’t have to spend your day preventing ER visits. I swear since Waylon started walking (on his first birthday) he has been full speed ever since. So I’ve been searching high and low for things to entertain him while he’s at home with me. I love spending time with him because it’s such a wonderful way for us to bond and teach him to learn and grow. However, coming up with fun and engaging activities to do at home can be challenging. Here are five activities that I found helpful that you can do at home with your 1-year-old that are both fun and educational. Sensory play is a great way to help your 1-year-old develop their senses and explore the world around them. You can set up a sensory bin filled with items such as dry pasta, pompoms, […]
