How We Wore 1 Bag 2 Ways: Country and Rock’n Roll

BeFunky Collage

Since the big move to LA, we have been feeling like we are millions of miles apart. Not only are we living on separate coasts but we’re no longer able to indulge in our weekly wine nights where we used get together to swap beauty secrets, catch up on gossip and our latest fashion cravings. Which completely sucks btw. But thanks to Bag Borrow or Steal, we were able to come together to collaborate once a month to share our latest handbag obsessions with you.

Even though we have different styles, we still share the same love for many of the same pieces…. And these Gucci Disco bags are right up both of our allies. These bags are the perfect pop of color, compact enough to carry when you are on the go and they make a total statement with the fun tassles.  We have been wearing our cross-body bags on repeat and creating a variety of looks, thanks to Bag Borrow or Steal. They are so easy to throw on and really can play off any style or trend.

Since we both grew up with very different backgrounds, we are both drawn to very different styles of clothing and music. Even though we may not dress like this daily, in this post we are excited to show you our inner “musical spirt animal”.  Talking about the music we love, the clothing we feel at home in and the new bag we can’t stop talking about.

I’m a little bit country….Let me count the ways.

  1. I grew up on a small farm in Fauquier County, Virginia
  2. Was a competitive equestrian rider
  3. Married a Cowboy from South Dakota
  4. And I looooove country music

From discovering country music in high school and roping a cowboy of my own in college, the rural lifestyle has certainly had an impact on my life and style. So even though I didn’t grow up wrangling steers, and the boots I wore around our small equestrian horse farm were a bit more preppy than the ones I’ve been rocking lately, I’m a bit of a cowgirl at heart.

Even though I live in DC, far from any wide open fields, where I have to dress up for outings and blog photos, I still feel my best when I’m in a great pair of jeans and boots. But that doesn’t mean I can’t pair in a designer bag that makes a total statement, like the Gucci Disco Bag shown above. Its easy, feels natural and allows me to feel like I’m being true to myself no matter what the occasion.

Blending my two worlds together on my terms. The kind of mixing that I think everyone should look for when assembling their own personal style.  Because when you feel true to yourself and comfortable in your own clothes and skin, nothing could be more sexy. No matter what your zip code. – Sarah

From the title “I’m a little bit rock and roll,” however “Born to be Wild” seems more fitting. No, I’m not riding a motorcycle down the Pacific Coast Highway or shooting down bottles of whiskey but this look suits me. My parents always told me “Born to be Wild” is my life’s theme song and I dig it. To me being wild isn’t a characteristic, it is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that consists of an identifying what it is you want in life and going for it with a nonchalant attitude as you know it’s a matter of when not if.

Born a military brat, I have traveled the world and resided in various states from Hawaii to Texas to Virginia plus outside the country in Germany for six years. I can easily adapt to a new environment and have acquired a taste for a constant fast pace. My upbringing taught me to be yourself and find comfort in your own skin. Outsiders will choose to label and so be it, just keep moving at your own rhythm…on second thought maybe I am a little bit rock and roll.

My preferred choice of dress… Casual tee, relaxed jeans and sneakers. Thanks to living in Cali, this attire is very much welcomed. But because of this I need a fun bag preferably with a pop of color and this Gucci Disco bag is everything. The color, the tassles, the adjustable straps… the fact that it’s a cross body and the ultimate easy going, comfy bag. Let’s just say I think this bag was made for me! – Michelle
