Shoulder Season

Yup thats right, it’s already shoulder season over here. Temperatures are warming up fast and the sun is showing face which means I can pull out the cut off denim shorts and all the shoulder bearing tops from that storage bin under my bed. I love a good off the shoulder top because it’s quite effortlessly cute and even sexy with just a little extra skin bearing. I brought this piece with me to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa where my husband and I enjoyed a relaxing mini vacation. We worked out, lounged by the pool, had a picnic outside, watched the pink sunset over the mountains and just enjoyed each other’s company. Can’t get better than that. You can tell from the coloring and brightness in my photos, that we captured these pictures both as the sun was out as well as when it was beginning to set creating the most magnificent color scheme in the sky. We are so excited that it’s finally starting to warm up here in DC and beginning to feel more like spring, especially after the bizarre weather we had just a few days ago. With the sun finally out and temps reaching close to 70 degrees today we felt it was about time to bring out the skirt and bare legs! For our look of the day, we choose to pair this flared leather skirt with a lightweight, detailed sweater and added a statement necklace to make this outfit really pop. Spring 2014 Trend Report: Pastels

Another week has gone by and it hasn’t gotten any warmer in DC. Why is it that every time we sit down to write about spring, we get hit with another winter storm?? Maybe we are jinxing this whole spring thing, maybe it will never actually come our way. If it ever does decide to grace us with its presence then we suggest you look into adding pastels into your wardrobe. Pastels were all over the Spring 2014 Runways. Yes, that means you can finally pull out those gaudy easter outfits that have been haunting the back of your closet for years, Spring 2014 is finally their time to shine. When the snow finally melts you should expect to see lots of placid blues, violet tulips, warm hues of hemlock and shades of sand. All very easy on the eye and simple to add a piece or two into your wardrobe to give you an updated look for the warmer weather.. if it ever comes.
