Zara has always been one of our top go-to shops for updating our wardrobe from season to season. Their pieces are classic, durable and look much more luxurious and expensive than they really are. It’s really all about how you put it together, how you feel in it and the confidence you exude when you wear an outfit you look and feel great in. Proof that you don’t have to break the bank to look flawless. It also doesn’t hurt that their online ordering is easy, their shipping times are super fast and returns are painless (super important when online shopping). We love to check out Zara and other brick and mortar retail stores whenever possible, but hasn’t online shopping become just a little too convenient? Our lives continue to get busier and busier and we find ourselves even ordering our cleaning supplies online (thank you Amazon Prime). 52 Thursdays Celebrates Fashion For Paws 2014

We were very fortunate to both attend Fashion for Paws this year which was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. You can always count us in for charity events especially when animals are involved! For those of you who have not heard of this runway show, it is a nationally acclaimed luxury brand event to help benefit the Washington Humane Society. The models who walk in the show agree to raise a minimum of $5,000 in just 10 weeks leading up to the event by taking part in a friendly fundraising competition. They are the bread and butter of this amazing fundraiser. We had so much fun watching these models strut down the aisle with their pups by their side, wearing the latest pieces that DC’s local luxury retailers carry. They were able to raise over $404k by the end of it all AND helped numerous sheltered doggies find forever homes that night! Such a fun event to attend, combining our two favorite things…fashion and dogs! Brilliant idea. Light Spring Layering

The sun finally made an appearance this weekend and we were very anxious to make our way outside. There were a few chilly breezes, so we were really feeling the layering pieces for this post. I always feel most confident when adding a blazer or leather jacket to an outfit to pull together a complete, effortless look which can easily be dressed up or down (depending on the shoes and accessories, of course.) Skirts for Every Trend this Spring

Here at 52 Thursdays we are enduring another ice storm and spending the evening with the heat turned up and dreaming about the cherry blossoms and backyard cocktail parties that are just around the corner, in six weeks if you believe Punxsutawney Phil. After clicking through the Spring 2014’s runway trends we love the fact that skirts are represented in almost every look of the season. We are also really excited about the emergence of metallic and pastel colors that seem to be a staple in the current collections and especially the pieces spiced up by fringe and pleating. High waisted skirts are well paired with flirty crop tops, while short and sporty skirts are better matched with more boxy cropped looks. So no matter what your flavor, your Spring 2014 shopping trips should yield the perfect skirt for nearly any look desire.
