Being that this is not my first rodeo and I know how difficult and time consuming it can be to compile a list of things you need to prepare for a baby, a baby that is not even here yet. SO! I thought it would be helpful to list my personal must haves. The must haves that will get you through those very difficult, sleepless few months and beyond. Must haves not only for baby but for mama too! Julius is almost one, so these pieces are tried and true x2! This list may get a little lengthy so I apologize in advanced but I wanted to make sure that I explained why I love each product so much. Here we go … Dock A Tot: This is a must especially during those first few weeks. Baby is sleeping most of the time and having a little portable bed that is both convenient and aesthetically pleasing is a game changer. We would tote both kiddos around the house in thiers. Owlet Sock: The owlet sock saved me hours of sleep. I can’t thank this device enough for giving me a sense of peace as it tracks your baby’s oxygen level […]

Cesarian Recovery and Birth Story Get ready, this is a long one! On August 24th, 2020 I had a scheduled cesarean for my breech baby. This was not my birth plan however my cute but very stubborn baby seemed to be quite comfortable head up. I found this out at 37 weeks and googled all the best practices to try and flip him. We pulled out the surf board from the garage (as we don’t have an iron board) to do the iron board trick. My heart burn absolutely hated this but I sucked it up, literally to do all that I could. I practically wore an ice pack on the top of my belly all day and even played sweet music for him down there to “lure” him towards the right way. On August 12th I had an ECV preformed which is an External cephalic version. A manual procedure by which a breech baby can sometimes be turned from buttocks or foot first to head first. This extremely uncomfortable and painful procedure did not work as well. In fact it lead to some very strong contractions afterwards that kept me in the hospital 5 hours after for the fear […]

Keeping up with the Martin’s … When I say “keeping up with the Martin’s” I by all means don’t mean to compare my family to the Kardashians, trust me. When I say “keeping up with the Martin’s” I mean keeping up with this wild one and trying to live a stable, NORMAL life. Which is hard!!! Especially when you don’t have the help and family around you like the K’s do. I just wanted to share a quick post on where this family is currently at right now. Aka “still in survival mode”. I briefly shared a life update last post but would love some feedback, tips and in sight from mom’s out there on this post! Baby girl just had her 14 mo. check up. Yes. 14 months, even though these photos were taken a month ago!! Still so crazy. She continues to be in 100 percentile and currently is wearing 2-3T. Buying clothes and shoes for her has become more difficult than I could ever have imagined. The size on the tag really doesn’t mean anything. Her feet are fat, not wide, just fat and finding shoes are my new nightmare but also a challenge I’ve gladly accepted, […]

Sharing our love for this city plus a baby and mommy 11 month update. It’s hard to believe that we have been in LA for over 3 years now. When we found out we were pregnant, the question we were constantly asked was “Are you planning on moving back home?”. We never toyed with the idea because we were both on a career path that we wanted to continue to pursue here. Now don’t get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to be surrounded with our immediate family and share the incredible development and experiences of sweet baby Adaline with them. We are doing our best as a new family of 3 to keep working hard and loving hard in the city we both share the same love for and know baby girl will someday too. We love LA for too many reasons. Yes, the weather is gorgeous and the views are insane but it’s the impactful, memorable moments of witnessing, exploring and sharing all of these memories together with my little family. There is so much to do here from hiking to beaching to eating and shopping. I could go on but you get the idea, our weekends […]
