The holidays are sneaking up on us and this year I’m hosting my first Thanksgiving. Gulp. While I’m very excited, I’m also pretty nervous. “What if I ruin the turkey? My dressing will never be as good as my mother’s!” So many nuances running through my head but instead of trying something new I’ve decided to stick with a few things that I know are tried and true crowd-pleasers. I’ve always been a fan of Brussels sprouts, well if they’re done right. And by done right, I mean starting them with bacon and finishing them with cream! Oh, and there might be some rosé in there too (some for you and some for the dish)! My Brussels are more of an indulgence than a healthy dish. But who’s really is watching their waistline on Thanksgiving? These Brussels have never let me down with dinner guests and I know your family will love them just as much as mine does. Wishing you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!! Find the full recipe with links to have ingredients delivered to your doorstep here. Pro tip: Be sure to pour yourself a glass as you are cooking. It’s been proven to help stress […]

If you haven’t been yet, you will definitely want to roundup your girls and plan a girls night asap. We are talking about our favorite new spot here in DC, The Gryphon. The atmosphere is luxurious and the decor is inviting and energetic, which sets the stage for an epic girls night out. You can tell the owners really took the time and effort with each detail, from the eye catching signage outside, to the unique mounted griffin head decor. Their raw bar and dry-age steak room is beyond impressive and hands down beats out the neighboring competition which is why we had to spread the word! The Gryphon was top on our list when planning a recent girls night out because of their SUPPER CLUB feel and lively, upbeat environment. The DJ makes his appearance every Friday and Saturday night, which turns the place up a notch and transforms this fine dining restaurant into one of the hottest options for DC night life. After 12am the restaurant becomes more of a lounge with bottle service and dancing. So if you can hang past midnight, then they are there to keep the party going for you. They easily accommodate to private […]

Thanksgiving is a special day of the year when we gather together with family and close friends to celebrate each other and all that we are thankful for. It’s our family traditions that make this time of year so nostalgic and memorable. Grandma making her entrance with pecan pie in hand, Mom in the kitchen putting together her infamous creamy and buttery mashed potatoes, the nephews and nieces gathered around the table decorating Aunt Peggy’s sugar cookies. These are just a few of the family traditions that I look forward to each year that bring joy to my heart. The unfortunate part is that most of these also make my belly too full to enjoy the rest of the evening. I feel like a stuffed turkey myself! So for this Thanksgiving, we were looking to trim the fat but not the fun. Hoping to skip the unpleasant evening of indigestion, we thought we would try adding a healthy twist to our favorite recipes. Our goal was to look for dishes that opt for healthier ingredients and go lighter on the bad stuff, BUT most importantly, will still please a crowd and keep alive the traditions that make this day one we look forward to each year. For an appetizer we thought […]
