Most people probably wouldn’t think of DC as a mecca for craft beer but in the past few years things have been changing rapidly and DC is quickly making the beer industry take notice. It seems like new emerging breweries are popping up by the handful and since we had heard so much buzz surrounding our cities new craft, we had to go out and see it for ourselves and then of course share what we found with you. But before we start, we have to be honest, we aren’t beer connoisseurs. We aren’t even close. Of course we enjoy a good craft beer every now and again (mostly with our husbands) but our drink of choice is usually wine. But after taking a peek behind the curtain of the beer making process, the people behind it and what goes into it, lets just say we have a better appreciation now and so do our taste buds. Check out a few photos from each of the breweries that we visited below and then head over to Rent.com for the full article, a list of our favorite beers we tasted, and a full review on each brewery we visited. Cheers! Dave […]

When Sarah and Michelle told me I should contribute a post on fall fashions under $100, I thought, “Umm, well…like, actual good clothes that cost less than $100? Umm…” Which is not to say that I’m some rich snob who only wears $800 shoes. I don’t own any $800 shoes. C’mon, my last name isn’t Rockefeller! (And my husband reads this blog. Hi honey!) Ahem. So, no of course all of my clothes aren’t expensive, but I think I’m a savvy shopper: I find good deals, I tend to buy off-season items on sale and I never set out to shop for, say, a party dress. I see a dress that I love, I buy it and I find a party later. And I always find party worthy of a good dress. That said, I believe in investing in quality. When everything in your closet is well-made and looks good on, you always look good. So after I negotiated my baseline to $150….ish, I set out looking. I’m not going to insult our good readers’ intelligence by sending you to Forever 21 or Old Navy. You know they sell cheap affordable clothes. That tend to fall apart after a season. I’ve been […]

Do you guys remember a few years ago, when everybody—no, literally everybody—was rocking the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit? You know what I’m talking about? The one with “JUICY” emblazoned on the backside? That is, if you were “hip” enough to grab the original. Later the trend came to encompass bottoms that advertised “PINK,” “RUTGERS,” “ED HARDY” or assorted other brands on the asses of America. That tracksuit was fashion poison, and of course I had one two a few. In assorted colors. That I wore with Uggs. Because of course I did…and when I walked down the street I felt in style, trendy, hip—generally awesome. Until I one day I realized that, regardless of how “in” they were and what celebrities were wearing them, velour pants looked awful on me. Especially, (but not exclusively) velour pants that could comfortably fit five 4-inch tall letters with room to spare across my rear end. But if we’re honest with ourselves, that happens every season, right? A trend catches fire and produces the “it” item. Before we know it, some sort of noxious fashion fumes overcome us and we find ourselves obsessed with buying something that is so in, so on-trend, that we forget to think about whether […]

If you have never heard of Karla Colletto and their swimwear line, this is something you might want to read. Since both of us majored in Fashion Design and Merchandising, you can imagine how excited we were when we found out we were given the opportunity to come tour their factory and witness firsthand where the magic happens. They entire operation is done locally in Vienna, Va which gave us all the more reason to support a local designer who is already well known throughout the world and the community. We felt the creative energy as soon as we stepped foot into their facility–from the intricate detail of pattern placement and die cut, to the sewing assembly line and final product. We were already huge fans of Karla Colleto’s designs, but, after speaking with Karla and the team to hear their inspiration and the thought-put behind each individual garment, we grew an even larger appreciation for them. Karla truly makes the one-piece swimsuit sexy in a very flattering way that compliments every shape and size. Definitely a must have in our wardrobe this Summer! Take a peak at our tour of the factory and our interview with the talented designer and team behind […]
