The holidays are sneaking up on us and this year I’m hosting my first Thanksgiving. Gulp. While I’m very excited, I’m also pretty nervous. “What if I ruin the turkey? My dressing will never be as good as my mother’s!” So many nuances running through my head but instead of trying something new I’ve decided to stick with a few things that I know are tried and true crowd-pleasers. I’ve always been a fan of Brussels sprouts, well if they’re done right. And by done right, I mean starting them with bacon and finishing them with cream! Oh, and there might be some rosé in there too (some for you and some for the dish)! My Brussels are more of an indulgence than a healthy dish. But who’s really is watching their waistline on Thanksgiving? These Brussels have never let me down with dinner guests and I know your family will love them just as much as mine does. Wishing you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!! Find the full recipe with links to have ingredients delivered to your doorstep here. Pro tip: Be sure to pour yourself a glass as you are cooking. It’s been proven to help stress […]

I have a few go-to recipes I make on repeat during fall/winter in my house. Boeuf Bourguignon is one of the few that is on heavy rotation purely because I love the process of making it, my husband thinks it actually tastes good and I usually make a giant pot so that it lasts us all week (which means less cooking for me). Since returning from our trip to France and the cold weather arriving, I have been craving this dish even more than usual. Boeuf Bourguignon is much more than beef stew with a fancy name. This dish is so wildly loved because of the layers of flavor that build over time. Which means it needs time for those flavors to grow and meld together. So if you are looking to make this dish in a rush, you better think again. This dish only gets better with time, so patience is key! As much as I love the process of cooking this French comfort good, it does take the better half of a day to get it right. So this time, I decided to break out the crockpot to cut down on the amount of time I had to […]

I love coming home from work after a long day to cook an intricate, gourmet meal made only with fresh ingredients that still meets my healthy standards, then enjoying the evening relaxing with my husband as we clean all the pots and pans. Ok, the truth is I would love to eat that gourmet meal and my husband and I do love cooking together, but making this a reality while balancing work, family, the blog and a social life leaves very little time to cook a nice dinner. And no energy to clean up. I can’t even seem to find the time to plan a meal, let alone cook it. I doubt that I’m the only one in this boat. We live in a fast passed society with deadlines and demands. The reality is, cooking a big meal is time intensive and time is precious. Everything has a trade off and convenience usually means heavily processed, packaged, pre-made meals. You can forget fresh ingredients. That’s what I thought until I stumbled across Klean LA, a premium meal delivery service. They deliver freshly made meals straight to your doorstep specifically with the purpose of weight loss, weight management and nutrition. It […]

If you haven’t been yet, you will definitely want to roundup your girls and plan a girls night asap. We are talking about our favorite new spot here in DC, The Gryphon. The atmosphere is luxurious and the decor is inviting and energetic, which sets the stage for an epic girls night out. You can tell the owners really took the time and effort with each detail, from the eye catching signage outside, to the unique mounted griffin head decor. Their raw bar and dry-age steak room is beyond impressive and hands down beats out the neighboring competition which is why we had to spread the word! The Gryphon was top on our list when planning a recent girls night out because of their SUPPER CLUB feel and lively, upbeat environment. The DJ makes his appearance every Friday and Saturday night, which turns the place up a notch and transforms this fine dining restaurant into one of the hottest options for DC night life. After 12am the restaurant becomes more of a lounge with bottle service and dancing. So if you can hang past midnight, then they are there to keep the party going for you. They easily accommodate to private […]
