Every day we find ourselves asking the same question…what to pack for lunch?? Whether you plan it the night before or make it in the morning, there just never seems to be enough time. To add to the stress of it all, we have to pack for our husbands and one day kids too?! Ahhh! Most of the time we find ourselves giving up the battle and just grabbing something close to work, not knowing the real nutritional value and content, and of course spending a fortune. As people say, “the struggle is real.” To help with that struggle we teamed up with nutrition expert and a personal friend of ours to help us find a healthy and pocket friendly routine for our busy lives. And the answer to what’s for lunch? Mason Jar Salads!! Meet Elise of Kale and Chocolate!

We just finished a 3 day juice cleanse at South Block Juice bar which has really helped me reevaluate what I eat and drink. That’s what I love about juicing, it helps break the cycle of dependence on saturated fats, refined carbohydrates, processed foods, and excess caffeine and alcohol. It truly has helped ease my food decision making while reducing my appetite which is why I wanted to share with you guys an easy, healthy and very delicious meal that I have been obsessed with since completing my juice cleanse. We call it…Fresh Sesame Tuna Salad! This is one of my favorite dishes that my husband and I came up with because it’s light and refreshing for warmer temperatures and will help you build and maintain that beach bod we are forever striving for. Sigh. I am not a big seafood fan, but have tried several big girl times to eat more fish as they are beneficial to our health. (Fish has Omega 3 which helps lower your blood pressure, reduces the risk of heart disease and Alzheimer’s and signs of Schizophrenia and Depression. Oh, and it also helps improve your skin and hair. Bonus points!) I believe that we came up with […]

My sister bought me the Nutribullet for Christmas which I love and have used every day! I love juicing but it can be difficult and time-consuming to clean. The Nutribullet is so much easier for daily use (especially in the morning before work) and doesn’t remove of all the fiber as a juicer may. The skin and pulp of the fruits and veggies are full of fiber and where most of the vitamins and minerals are housed. If you discard these parts, you’re throwing out the most beneficial portions of the produce!!! I wanted to share my breakfast smoothie that I drink every morning and swear by for an energy packed, nutritious day! I call it the Mean Green. You can easily make this in any blender but the Nutribullet is great for on the go as you just pop the lid on and go! For 1 serving the smoothie consists of .. 1. Half of a pear 2. Quarter of a avocado (not shown below) 3. Cut up a pineapple to your desire and add 4 to 5 pieces (key ingredient to making this taste good!) 4. Handful of Kale (pick the stems out) 5. One table spoon of […]
