A Festive Date Night

Can you believe it’s December 8th already? Seemed like just yesterday we were sitting around the table enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family and now we are in full swing prepping for the holidays and the coming of the new year. 2016 is approaching quicker than I had expected and the anxiety has officially settled in. I have a tendency to get caught up in the chaos when I should be relaxing and taking in the last few days of the year and reflecting on what I have accomplished and what I hope to accomplish in the new year. So this time around, I’m going to take things slow, relax and enjoy the holidays and the loved ones around me. My husband and I always plan one night a week for date night to ensure we are doing just that. No distractions around us, just good ol’ fashion conversation. And with the holidays around the corner, for this date night I attempted more of a festive look with my new Byer California top. Beyond The Runway: Miami Swim Week

We arrived in Miami early Thursday morning with great anticipation and a very packed schedule ahead of us. We wanted to take full advantage of our visit and take in all that Mercedez Benz Fashion Swim Week 2015 had to offer in the little time that we had. As soon as we unpacked our bags we were off to the Ford Artists Beauty Suite on the Venetian Lady yacht for makeup and hair styling hosted by the ladies behind the charity Style Saves. This was much appreciated after a rough, early flight. Our Ford makeup artist and hair stylist were phenomenal and we thank them for their amazing work and help getting us ready! Poko Pano kicked off MBFW with the very first show on Friday at The Raleigh Hotel pool. We all clinched on to our fans and drastically tried to keep cool in the blistering heat. Thankfully the show was a splash, literally, and we soon forgot about the heat and humidity and enjoyed the show and MBFW 10 Year Anniversary party and opening night event. The Evil Eye: More than just Jewelry

Since I was little I have always been fascinated with Greek mythology – mythical gods who ruled the world and used the Greek islands as their play grounds. Each story has a meaning or lesson, many of which I carry with me to this day. Naturally I was obsessed with the the Evil Eye pieces that I found from Carré Jewelry. The concept of the evil eye is widespread in Mediterranean countries, with its roots planted in ancient Greece. The purpose of the evil eye symbol, also known as the matiasma, is to ward off the effects of the evil eye. To “fight fire with fire” basically if ever an evil eye may fall on to you… I hope I’m covered in this department with the matching Lady Luck necklace and bracelet! We hope these outfit ideas help when you are putting together a look for your NYE night. We styled four looks (from our own closets) for different party options, from a night in to a big soiree in the city. You don’t have to go out and buy a new outfit for NYE, you can find many items that you already have in your closet, just get creative!
