If you are looking to dine at one of the hottest restaurants in all of DC, then look no further. We have found a spot that is far from pretentious, beyond delicious and is as comforting as our Italian grandmother’s cooking. We sat down with owner/head chef of The Red Hen, Mike Friedman, to learn more about his cozy Italian restaurant and what it takes to run the establishment that all of DC can’t stop talking about.

Spring is in the air! We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after a brutally cold winter here in DC. One thing is for certain, we are all ready for some fresh air after being trapped indoors for a solid two months straight. Warm weather means happy hours, dining el fresco, farmers markets and finally shedding the layers that we have become a-custom to bundling up in. And luckily enough, we have found one glorious spot in DC to indulge in all of our favorite warm weather activities. Union Market is a unique emporium that houses over 40 artisan retailers under one roof. Richard Brandenburg, veteran of José Andrés’s ThinkFoodGroup, has carefully curated the ultimate foodie experience and locals and tourists have definitely taken notice. Vendors range from fine food artisans, up-and-coming entrepreneurs, to well known restaurateurs all creating an overall memorable experience. You can choose to eat at a specific restaurant or if you are with a group, everyone can grab different bites from various vendors and share them at the picnic tables outside. Many people love visiting for lunch, happy hour or dinner but our favorite time to visit is on the weekends. There is so much to do, that you can […]
