April is a strange month, mostly because I was born in it but also because of the crazy weather it brings. During this wacky month here in VA we have experienced snow, 90 degree weather, a boat load of pollen flying around and a decent amount of rain. Luckily I have an app on my phone that wakes me up with the weather and a humidity count each day, otherwise I would be completely lost when trying to get ready in the morning. Depending on the day or what I have going on, I always carry my new Barbour rain coat with me. Because no matter what, showers could occur at practically any moment. I am absolutely in love with this little jacket because it repels rain, is super light, has huge pockets to keep all my stuff and is beyond cute. I have worn it with a preppy little outfit like pictured in this post, with jeans and heels and even over my workout clothes when it decides to pour down rain. It’s hard watching one of your best friends and business partner pack up and move across the country. It had only been a little over a month since she moved but I decided that it was time to get out of DC and head out west for a 52 Thursdays reunion. As spring is just getting it’s feet wet here in DC, LA has already moved straight into summer and for someone who has been freezing cold all winter long, the warm weather was extremely welcoming. Winter Sales & Splurges

Shopping is a personal thing. We all have different styles, budgets and looks we are trying to achieve. So when it comes to your go-to store, we may all have different opinions and thats a-ok. As many of you may already know, my shopping go-to is Zara. They are always on trend, have exactly what I am looking for and all for a reasonable price. Recently they marked down all of their fall/winter merchandise to make room for spring, so I have been loading up that online cart a bit more than usual. This plaid shirt-dress was a major score for me because of it’s extreme versatility. When shopping, I don’t usually gravitate towards fads or trendy pieces. If I make a purchase, I want it to last at least two seasons, no matter what the cost. So I try to keep my purchases classic. I will be wearing this shirt-dress with jeans, tights and on warmer days with bare legs and tall boots. Now lets talk splurges. 52 Thursdays Celebrates Fashion For Paws 2014

We were very fortunate to both attend Fashion for Paws this year which was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. You can always count us in for charity events especially when animals are involved! For those of you who have not heard of this runway show, it is a nationally acclaimed luxury brand event to help benefit the Washington Humane Society. The models who walk in the show agree to raise a minimum of $5,000 in just 10 weeks leading up to the event by taking part in a friendly fundraising competition. They are the bread and butter of this amazing fundraiser. We had so much fun watching these models strut down the aisle with their pups by their side, wearing the latest pieces that DC’s local luxury retailers carry. They were able to raise over $404k by the end of it all AND helped numerous sheltered doggies find forever homes that night! Such a fun event to attend, combining our two favorite things…fashion and dogs! Brilliant idea.
