Days have become a bit cooler, leaves have begun to fall and pumpkin spice lattes are being served at every corner coffee shop. All signs that fall has arrived. There is just something about this season that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and make us gravitate towards cozy clothes that you could practically curl up for a nap in. This sweater dress is one of these pieces. I wore this cozy ‘Mod’ look while attending fashion week and while the weather hardly felt like fall at the time, I pushed through anyway (to photograph this look) and came out practically unscathed. All in the name of fashion. I went for a mod look and paired this shift sweater dress with my favorite over the knee boots, round sunglasses and finished the look with a sleek top knot. I hope Twiggy would be proud. This look is easy, requires little to no thought to put together and is perfect for practically any occasion this fall/winter. I usually air on the side of simple when it comes to getting dressed and sweater dresses and shift dresses make life a ton easier for me in the cooler months. Just throw […]

I am feeling pretty excited over here because it is finally starting to feel like fall. After a scorching hot summer, I think we are all ready to pack away our summer clothes and pull out our fall wardrobes. Summer is usually my favorite season but after way too many scorching hot days , I have found myself looking forward to fall more than ever this season. Since I was attending New York Fashion Week and was in need of some new looks, I was able to get a jump start on my fall shopping. I do a ton of my shopping online but when I need something last minute, Nordstrom Pentagon City is always my first stop. It is literally less than a mile from my house which has been both a blessing and a curse. They seriously had soo many cute things in for fall that it made it really hard to choose. I am currently on a suede mini kick and thought that this warm honey brown hue really screamed fall, also didn’t hurt that it was only $78. I have also been on the hunt for a button down that had a skinny necktie like this, so when […]

You really see it all when it comes to Fashion Week. The good, the bad and the ugly. One of my favorite parts about this fashion circus is the people watching, it’s almost better than the runway shows. I pull so much inspiration from what I see on the streets in New York and even if that was all I went to NYFW for, it would be worth it. This fashion week was a little bit quieter for me than the ones in years past. I went to less shows, had more meetings, was able to meet up with friends and actually eat meals. Usually we are so busy running from show to show that we end up skipping lunch and dinner and lord knows that none of the NYFW parties that we ever attend serve meals. I guess that is just a fashion thing, no one eats. NYFW was also a tad disorganized this year, which was to be expected after Mercedes Benz dropped the event after last season. Instead of most of the events being held at Lincoln Center like in years past, the shows were scattered around the city which made for mad traffic and surged UBER pricing. Most shows […]

Wearing- Hat: Hat Attack; Sunglasses: Rayban, Coat: (sold out-similar here) Zara; Jeans: Forever 21, Turtleneck: NastyGal; Boots: Sole Society; Bag: Chloe. — Photography by Natalie of The Fashionably Broke. Packing for New York Fashion Week is no joke, especially in mid February. It’s a battle of what will be super chic, fit in your suitcase and will also keep you warm in 1 degree weather. I tried my best to look put together most of the time I was there but I’m not going to lie, by the end of the week I was bundled in a comfy sweater and my poofy down parka. But beyond the cold weather, it is still a struggle to decide what to bring to one of the most fashionable events in all of the world. It’s a lot of pressure! Luckily I discovered a secret weapon to keep my outfits looking fresh, on trend and all at an affordable price. My little secret is that I usually borrow…yes borrow a purse to take to Fashion Week. I discovered Bag Borrow or Steal about a year ago and have been absolutely hooked ever since. You can rent any luxury handbag off of their site for a month at a […]
