Just your typical mad for plaid this fall … I love fall and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone here. It’s that crisp feel and change of weather, the festive decorating and anticipation for each holiday, the cozy sweaters and boots galore … there is seriously just so much to toast about. As a new mom adventuring in to her very first season with baby girl, I have been much more cautious of my purchases this fall when I normally go a bit bananas. I need versatility and comfort while not spending a fortune. Because let’s be real … from the events, costumes, decorations and presents (oh boy …the presents), this might be the most expensive season to date. With all the expenses circulating, this doesn’t mean I want to sacrifice fashion which makes fall our all time favorite time. Now of course when I think of fall I immediately think of plaid. It’s the one pattern that is always in fashion this time of year. Mad for plaid. The title says it all. There is something about plaid that just makes you want to cozy on up to a warm fire with a cup of yummy hot coco. With temperatures finally cooling off here in LA this may actually be a reality for me. Well maybe not the whole fire place situation, but I definitely will be getting into the holiday spirit by putting on some plaid pj’s and sipping on some hot coco while wrapped in a fuzzy blanky watching a holiday movie. As fall begins each year I initiate the closet clean out process of moving the summer pieces to the back and the fall/winter pieces up front – which means a lot of plaid. Plaid button downs, capes, throws, scarves … you name it, front and center. Plaid will forever be my go-to pattern during the fall and winter. Falling for South Moon Under

There are times when living and working in the big city can really wear a girl down. Sometimes you just have to get in your car, roll down the windows and head somewhere where the air is clean, the sky is big and the only traffic is a herd of cows crossing the road. For me, that place is my hometown of Warrenton, VA, a charming little town about 45 minutes (and a millions miles) west of D.C. Driving down the winding country roads is my stress relief. As the city fades in my rearview mirror, a sense of relaxation that can’t be found at the fanciest spa or yoga retreat washes over me. Warrenton is part of my heart and I am so blessed to have spent my formative years in such a beautiful part of our country. When I think of fall, I think of gold and auburn foliage, horses, wineries and, of course, plaid.
