Hey guys! I’m Ashley Gray Duru, artistic director at Salon Emage Day Spa, and also Sarah and Michelle’s hairstylist. I’m here today to talk hair. I love getting together with the girls during our hair “dates” and talking trends. Sarah and Michelle are some of my more fashion forward clients who love trying new things – as long as it’s blonde of course ;). Their good looks and style inspire me to push the envelope with their do’s And keep their locks right on trend. Here are some trends I’m loving right now… Baliage baliage and more baliage!!! Hair painting is my favorite way to lighten hair these days. Trade in your solid ombré for a softer look using baliage this season. It gives such a soft and natural look replicating that of a child’s hair or a sun kissed look. I love using this technique on my brunettes, dark blondes, color virgins, or when breaking up a solid ombré. Dressing for Fall with H&M

Football season has officially started, the seasonal Starbucks lattes are finally back, yellow school buses are making their rounds and brisk, cool nights are here and sticking around. So many traditional signs to let us know that Fall is amongst us and we are loving every minute of it. The early days of fall are always the most fun to dress for. So many transitional pieces to carry from summer to fall to even winter. The minimalist trend is one of our favorites by far. This simplistic, effortless and refined chic look is perfect for the transitioning weather, with fitted silhouettes and light layering pieces. Tights, boots and some killer wrap coats or oversized throws will take you to the next season until all you want to wear are your comfy, go to sweats come February! We wanted to showcase our favorite looks from H&M featuring the minimalist trend for this season. These looks could easily be worn for a date night out and even to the office if you throw on the cardigan. Behind The Scenes with Ashley Duru and Oribe

Fall is one of our favorite seasons, not just because of the gorgeous foliage and favorable weather, but more importantly for sartorial reasons. When prepping for our fall shoot, that was photographed by the talented Noelle Turbitt, we, of course, called our girl Ashley Duru, Artistic Director at Salon Emage to make us look the part. Salon Emage of Warrenton, Va recently launched the Oribe line, in their salon and we were so excited to excited for Ashley to use these luxurious products while styling our hair. We asked Ashley to give us the low down on how she went about styling our hair for our shoot and more about the products she used. Take it away Ashley! I was inspired by several of the vintage looks Sarah and Michelle pulled for their fall fashion shoot. I wanted to create a simple yet extremely glamorous look for both of them with soft vintage waves. Sarah’s Hair : I applied Volumista and Foundation Mist to wet hair for volume, hold, and shine. 52 Thursdays Celebrates Fashion For Paws 2014

We were very fortunate to both attend Fashion for Paws this year which was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. You can always count us in for charity events especially when animals are involved! For those of you who have not heard of this runway show, it is a nationally acclaimed luxury brand event to help benefit the Washington Humane Society. The models who walk in the show agree to raise a minimum of $5,000 in just 10 weeks leading up to the event by taking part in a friendly fundraising competition. They are the bread and butter of this amazing fundraiser. We had so much fun watching these models strut down the aisle with their pups by their side, wearing the latest pieces that DC’s local luxury retailers carry. They were able to raise over $404k by the end of it all AND helped numerous sheltered doggies find forever homes that night! Such a fun event to attend, combining our two favorite things…fashion and dogs! Brilliant idea.
