I’m a VA girl through and through. Born in raised in Warrenton, VA surrounded by farm land and my furry four legged friends, I developed a love for my state at an early age. Call me a homebody but I just haven’t found a state that gives me the feels that Virginia does. The rolling pastures, roaming horses, and endless wineries are just a few reasons why I love my home-state but my family and friends play a big role in that too. Probably why I haven’t ventured too far away from it in my 33 years (good lord I’m old) of life. Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel and take almost any opportunity to go out and explore the world but it always makes coming home that much sweeter. While Arlington, VA is my current home with my husband and two rescue mutts, I still feel like I am close enough to my hometown to escape the hustle and bustle when need be. I am constantly amazed by the amount of successful women that surround me. It is both uplifting and inspiring to personally know so many women who decided to stray from the conventional 9-5 desk jobs to follow their passions and dreams. A large reason why I decided to take the plunge into self employment and start my own business and let me tell you that my life has changed dramatically and I haven’t looked back since the day I walked out of that office. When my good friends, Jennifer Gray and Brittany Hartz told me they were starting an boho/equestrian inspired clothing line called sigAshop; I knew the second they told me that it would be wildly successful because the passion and love they both have for horses and for fashion. Both things that I am also pretty crazy about! Growing up with these girls on neighboring horse farms in Warrenton, VA, we have a lot of the same values. Living in the city now, it makes me really appreciate where I came from and proud of the work ethic that farm life taught me. Black + White: Holiday Dressing with Ella Rue

Anyone else feeling a little shocked that the holidays are just around the corner? It seems like just a hot minute ago we were sweating our buns off and laying by the pool and now we are prepping for Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years…yikes! This time of year is pretty nostalgic for us; we are actually able to unplug, unwind, eat home cooked meals and spend quality time with the people we love and cherish most. Another reason we can’t get enough of this season is for the plethora of holiday parties. There is just something about getting dressed up in your finest and heading out into the blustery night to attend a festive party that really gets us in that holiday spirit. And while we love attending these parties, we seem to always find ourselves scrambling to hunt down a frock at the last minute. This year we decided to break that bad habit and do a little planning in advance. We called up our friends at Ella Rue and asked them to scout out a few knock-out dresses for us with the holidays in mind. 5 Favorite Things: Fall Edition

Summer has gone as quickly as it arrived. While we had an amazing and impactful summer, we can’t help looking forward to a relaxing, laid-back fall. There is just so much to love about these autumn days; the crisp weather, Halloween treats, outdoor activities and of course a chance to show off our cozy sweaters and layered looks. In no particular order, here are the five fall things Sarah and I are most excited about this year: 1. VA Wineries Nothing beats fall in Virginia—changing leaves, hayrides, apple picking and, of course, Virginia wine! Whenever we can, we escape the city and head out to the country for a little R&R and to sample the many local wineries. The wine is delicious and the views can’t be beat. A few of our favorite stops on the VA wine trail are Chester Gap, Chateau O’brien, Barrel Oak, La Grange and Rappahannock Cellars.
