A few weeks ago, Casey and I headed up to Woodstock, Vermont to attend our friends wedding over 4th of July weekend. I had been to Vermont as a young kid to ski at Sugar Bush but that had to be over 20 years ago (wow I’m old). We had nothing on our schedule other than to stay at the resort that the couple reserved a hotel block, attend the wedding and to watch fire works somewhere. I had no idea I would fall so hard for this little town and now I completely understand why our friends chose this location to tie the knot. It doesn’t get much cuter than Woodstock, Vermont.
Woodstock Inn and Resort
A friend’s wedding took us to Woodstock, Vermont and lucky for us the hotel block was at The Woodstock Inn and Resort. We were absolutely blown away with he beauty of this Inn and Spa. Everything was top notch, including the service, food, spa and amenities. My favorite part of our room was the wood burning fire place that came in hand on the cool Vermont nights. We hit the spa for massages, checked out the pool and took their bicycles for a spin too. The Inn is a bit pricey but if you can score one of their summer deals or head there mid-week, it may not be so bad. It is also right in the heart of Woodstock, so you can easily walk downtown for a couple scoops of homemade ice cream or to browse the cute little boutiques.
Visiting Vermont in the summer was a first for me but once we arrived, we quickly realized that there were plenty of things we needed to do during our stay. Here are a few of the things that you must do while you are in Woodstock.
Covered bridges- Around practically every corner there is a cute covered bridge that you would just have to pull over to see and to snap a few photos of. We loved the red covered bridge in Taftsville that was on the way to the glass blowing facility. I definitely recommend stopping to check it out on the way!
Simon Pearce- This is a stop that you really can’t miss when in Woodstock, Vermont. Head over to the Simon Pearce Glass blowing facility to see artisans hand crafting glass, shop their unique collection of glassware or have lunch or a drink at their restaurant. We did a little bit of everything while we were there and decided that one day we would get rid of all of our glasses and replace them with Simon Pearce. #LifeGoals
Breweries- Im not sure what is better in Vermont, the beer or the ice cream. Well, I know what I consumed more of…There are so many different breweries in Vermont and some damn good ones at that. You must stop by The Alchemist and wait in their line for the sought after Heady Topper. The brewery just opened up to the public about 2 weeks ago, so it is brand spanking new. Also, stop by Prohibition Pig for a Double IPA and Fiddlehead to see what they have on tap. You also have to try to score a few cans of Sip of Sunshine while you are in Vermont, we ended up scoring more than a few cans (try 3 cases) so we ditched our flights and ended up driving home with a boat load of beer. Yes we are weird, we know.
Shopping- While you are in town you also must stop by Vermont Flannel for some amazing flannels. I am featured wearing a red and black check flannel from Vermont Flannel Company in this post!
