FALL In Love With VA Wine Country
It doesn’t get much better than Fall in Virginia. I love my home state year round but it really shines brightest in the Fall. Since I practically live in DC amongst the traffic and noise, I take every chance I can get to drive out of the city and down those country roads back to my roots. Last weekend I was feeling that itch, so I packed up my bags and headed out to Loudoun for some R&R at Lansdowne Resort and Spa. They set me up with a gorgeous room overlooking the resort, golf course and the incredible fall foliage landscape. They also had a full cheese platter waiting for me upon arrival, they obviously knew the way to my heart!
It was my dear friend, Kisten’s birthday, so she joined me at the hotel to kick off our relaxing girls weekend. I packed along one of my favorite bottles of rosé, so we popped the cork and enjoyed a refreshing glass of vino on our private balcony before we gussied ourselves up for the night. Celebrations were in order since we were celebrating Kirsten and our friend, Ashley’s birthdays, so we planned a really fun night out at Stone Tower Winery for their Fall Harvest Wine Dinner, which was only a 15 min Uber ride away.
We had such an amazing time at dinner catching up while drinking copious amounts of Stone Tower’s wine and a three-course dinner prepared by a local chef. I highly recommend attending one of their future wine dinners, definitely a fun date night or a fun event for a group of friends to do together. If you’re looking for something a little more low key, you can always drop into Stone Tower for a tasting and a cheese board and then hop around to a few others that are nearby.
So if you are in need of a fall getaway but don’t want to break the bank on an extravagant vacation, then you need to head out to Virginia’s wine country for a little staycation at Lansdowne Resort. There’s a little something for everyone there, from various daily fitness events, organized wine tours, golf, spa treatments, an amazing restaurant and more. It’s crazy how close it is to the city but it feels like you are a world away once you are there. The perfect destination to enjoy the fall foliage paired with Virginia’s finest wine. I can’t wait to head back to enjoy another weekend in Virginia wine country with my hubby!
Thanks to Lansdowne Resort for hosting me during my staycation. All thoughts and photos are my own.
