A Galentine’s Day

Valentine’s day shouldn’t just be about the lovers and couples, because let’s be honest not everyone is bunned up this time of year. We love any excuse to celebrate our true loves but of course, we can’t forget about our select and few, true friendships. This Valentine’s Day we wanted to take the day to relax, unwind and celebrate Galentine’s Day at the elegant Mandarin Oriental located in the heart of the US Capital.

Michelle was back home in DC for a short period of time to shower baby girl with her friends and family. We took advantage of this time to catch up and get some R&R while doing so. We started our day off doing what we love doing the most – shopping. We visited our favorite local shop, South Moon Under and picked up some goodies to wear to our lunch date at the Muze to begin our Galentine’s Day retreat. We, of course, went over blog related topics and then moved on to catching each other up on love, life and anything and everything in between. Baby Martin was craving steak so Michelle devoured steak and potatoes while Sarah went for a Thai twist and ordered the Tom Kha soup and Thai Steak Salad. Both absolutely delicious with the best view of the Potomac River. We could’ve stayed there for hours, being one of the best American cuisines with an Asian twist that we have had in years.

After stuffing our bellies we made our way down to the Spa and Wellness Center to let our food digest while we lounged by the pool until our massage appointments. It was the perfect Galentine’s Day well spent at one of Washington DC’s five-star luxury hotels. Michelle was sent back to LA, on her 5 hour plane ride the next day feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after a hectic but exhilarating visit. We may have to make this an annual tradition now except next year we will have a new addition to the gals of Fifty-Two Thursdays (52 1/2)!
