All About RF Microneedling

I recently had the opportunity to try out RF micro needling at OVME spa at the Mosaic District (they also have a location in Bethesda and DC) and I’ve been blown away by the results. I’ve been dying to try this procedure for years after hearing multiple friends that have amazing results and seeing many life changing before/afters on social media. I’m almost 39, so aging is top of mind for me as I approach 40. But I’m all about aging in a graceful way, so I also want to help my skin look youthful and plump without looking like a different person. I think this procedure really hits the nail on the head and is something I would recommend to anyone who is looking to reduce the signs of aging, wanting to get rid of acne scarring, enlarged pores etc.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that uses RF energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, while microneedles create tiny punctures on the surface of the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing process and collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity.

The procedure involves the use of a handheld device with a series of fine needles that penetrate the skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. The device then delivers RF energy to the deeper layers of the skin, heating the tissue and promoting collagen production. The combination of microneedling and RF energy delivers more dramatic results than either treatment alone, making RF microneedling a popular choice for those looking to improve the appearance of their skin. I know it sounds painful, but I promise it isn’t that bad. They put a numbing cream on so you don’t really feel much at all.

Benefits of RF Microneedling

RF microneedling offers numerous benefits over traditional microneedling and other skin rejuvenation treatments. Some of the most significant benefits include:

  1. Improved skin texture and tone: RF microneedling promotes collagen production, which can improve the texture and tone of the skin, leaving it looking smoother, brighter, and more youthful.
  2. Reduced fine lines and wrinkles: The heat generated by the RF energy can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a more youthful appearance.
  3. Reduced acne scars: RF microneedling can be effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin healing.
  4. Minimal downtime: RF microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that typically requires little to no downtime. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
  5. Safe for all skin types: RF microneedling is safe for all skin types, including those with darker skin tones who may be at risk of pigmentation changes with other skin rejuvenation treatments.

Is RF microneedling right for you?

Whether microneedling is right for you depends on several factors, such as your skin concerns, skin type, and medical history. It can be a good option for those who want to address issues like acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. However, RF microneedling may not be suitable for everyone. If you have active acne or rosacea, you may want to consult your dermatologist first.

It’s also important to note that RF microneedling typically requires a series of treatments, so it’s important to have realistic expectations and commit to the recommended treatment plan. My main tip is to consulting with a qualified skincare professional, such as a dermatologist or licensed aesthetician, can help you determine whether RF microneedling is right for you. An experienced technician is key when receiving any kind of facial treatment like this.

I’ve had just one session and am hooked! This is my skin directly after the procedure. No blood, no swelling or serious redness. Literally hardly any down time at all. I went shopping right after! I can’t wait to go back for my second treatment!

If you’re interested in trying it out for yourself, book your appointment at OVME and tell them I sent you!

xoxo
