Postpartum Recovery + a yummy GIVEAWAY!!
June 27th, 2017 sweet Adaline was born. My world will forever be changed. For the better of course, but at the moment that world consists of very little sleep and very little time to worry about anything other than what’s most important in my life, which is my daughter. (still crazy to think I have a little daughter!!)
The fact that I am just now writing this post should give you an idea of how I have been managing my time. I thought I was going to have a lot more down time on my maternity leave. That baby would be chill and sleep often while I blog here and there, make dinner for the hubs before he comes home and take her out and about with out any worry. Welp, it’s been quite the opposite. To be honest, I don’t think I put too much thought in to it at all, which was part of the problem. I knew it was going to be tough taking care of an infant but I don’t think anyone can be fully mentally prepared. It’s more like a transition.
A transition from uncomfortable sleep while pregnant, to just flat out no sleep. From physical exhaustion while pregnant to just pure exhaustion (like exhaustion you never knew could exist). From feeling bloated and over weight to having what looks like a deflated floating device wrapped around your waist. From the constant debate on what to eat to avoid the terrible acid reflux or simply to satisfy those cravings to just flat out no time to eat. (Clearly I could go on.) Which is why I am so thankful to a few friends of ours that helped fuel and energize me in the time I needed it the most! Territory foods and Lumi juices seriously helped me survive those first few weeks transitioning in to my new life.
For two weeks, I had breakfast, lunch and dinner sent directly to my house for me and my husband. I can’t even begin to explain what a blessing this delivery system was in such a time of need. (Especially with no family around to bring me a chicken casserole!!) It’s so convenient and deliciously good. You can personalize the meals to your lifestyle, appetite and taste with all sustainably sourced real ingredients, curated by local chefs for a clean, tasty meal. Being a new mom, with of course little time and little energy I was looking for food to fuel and energize me to be up and alert to take care of whats most important (baby) and that is exactly what I got. They even implemented a postpartum filter in the menu to target and cater to these fragile times. And it goes with out saying how easy it was to heat up the meals with no prep time involved. Baby in one hand, fork in the other.
And for the mid day cravings and much needed pick me up, I turned to Lumi. One 16oz Lumi cold pressed juice provides an entire day’s serving of fruits and vegetables! Delicious and nutritious, right?! My favorite were the 2 oz. turmeric nutrition shots. It is great for uterus strength and to help fight inflammation. Trust me, your body will thank you later because that postpartum recovery is no joke. Another favorite was the Upbeet Pear, it was a tasty recharge I needed every day about mid-way to keep on chugging.
I’m happy to report that I somehow survived those first few weeks. Postpartum recovery is difficult and not something that is talked about too much. So if I can help share any insight for those embarking, please be prepared to make your life easier in any way possible. Stock that fridge with already prepared meals to fuel you and juices to help energize and recharge you to help you along your recovery.
You want as much time as possible to be with your new little one. Before you know it they will be 2 months! Eeeeck. Seriously, where did the time go??
We are excited to partner with Lumi by giving away 30 nutrition shots! That’s 1 shot every day for a month to help energize, fuel and care for that body of yours. Simply comment below for a chance to win. Winner will be chosen 1 week from today. Good luck 🙂
