Attending fashion week leaves me inspired on so many levels. It excites me for a new season to come, fresh trends to play with and it gives me so many ideas for my business. I’m pretty stoked about all of the trends to come for fall but let’s get real, it’s finally looking like it’s warm enough to talk Spring, so let’s get into what we can start wearing now. If I had to guess which trend I will be favoring this Spring, I would have to go with the 70’s movement. I have always had a thing for flare leg jeans and everything hippy chic, which most likely stems from years of my sister and I playing dress up in my mom’s closet. I hope whomever scored her digs from Goodwill a few years back, is enjoying them because I would absolutely kill to have those kaftans and flares right about now…
Flare leg jeans fit my 5’6 frame like a freaking charm. They lengthen my legs and paired a stacked heel, they make me appear much taller than I actually am. So if you weren’t blessed with long legs, like Michelle so luckily was, you might want to give this trend a whirl as well. To achieve the total retro glam look, pair your flares with a lighter denim top and finish off the look with a stacked heel and a killer vintage coat.
I seriously lucked out when I came across this vintage coat while visiting my college roommate in Charlotte two weeks ago. After perusing the aisles of Sleepy Poet Antique Mall for a good 3.5 hours, I stumbled upon this gorgeous wool coat with fur collar on our last lap. Thank GOD I stopped to try her on and after checking the price, only $53, I loaded her up with my other vintage finds and headed to checkout. The only obstacle I faced was packing this coat in my already full carryon, let’s just say where there is a will there is a way and there was no way in hell that this coat was not going to make it home with me.
If you are ready to jump on the 70’s bandwagon, you can shop the links in this post or better yet head to your favorite local consignment or vintage shop for original one-of-a-kind pieces. I swear by vintage shopping as most of my favorite pieces I own aren’t brand spanking new but pre-loved and full of character. I have listed a few of my favorite consignment shops that I browse frequently below. Know of a vintage shop you want to share with us, please comment below! We love hearing from you guys!
